About Us
"Hello. My name is Jill Bickley and, in 2006, after a little persuasion by a number of friends, I started pet dog agility training classes. In January 2009, we moved our location to a huge indoor riding arena at West Tarf, West Linton, where we do on-going fund raising for a local branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association."
"My main aim and emphasis for 'Pet Dog a-JILL-ity' has always been that handlers and their K9 chums should have real fun together."
I had previously been to good competition agility classes in both England and Scotland, but realised that there are a lot of people who don't actually want to compete; they want to train to a high standard, and want to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while having fun with their dogs. I am extremely proud of the fact that a number of our handlers have successfully gone on to compete, but even more proud to say that some of our handlers and their dogs have been with us in excess of 9 years because they enjoy their Monday evening entertainment so much.
On the left hand side of each of our pages, you will see me with Watson, my very first agility dog and, on the page entitled 'Fund Raising for R.D.A.' you will see my husband Peter with our chocolate Labrador 'Monty'.
In 2015, Andy Limbrick added his expertise to our training. We train on Monday evenings at West Tarf in West Linton (not far from Peebles, Biggar, Penicuik and Edinburgh). There are many advantages to this location - not least of which is that, because of the indoor riding arena, we never have to worry about rain and getting wet (hooray).
Please note that we are not an obedience training class. However, if you are interested in 'Dog Obedience' training, I will be pleased to give you details of the classes I am aware of within our area. Obedience is a good way of socialising your dog, and is a huge advantage before starting agility.
